Alphabet Series, Vol.1 (2024).

It was often conveyed to me in art and education that we, as artists, must find our strengths and stay on that path, devoting our craft to improving only those specific techniques to shape one genre across our work. This path can be beneficial to artists who specialize in one area, such as portraiture, wedding photography, or commercial photography. It was also taught to us that this practice is the major contributor to our success as an art. My photography consists of many areas that inspire me to create art. Through various themes, I chose to propel meaning and narratives through portraiture and still-life, which then translates into a range of other areas that I am also passionate about. I refuse to limit myself to creating photography in one genre.

This series is a testament to connecting the elements I adore from still-life, portraiture, and beauty into a single body of work, through subject matter represented by each letter of the English alphabet. Through a celebration of nostalgia, production, meticulous planning, high-quality execution, attention to detail, and overall quality to aesthetic appeal, I strive to infuse my favourite attributes of commercial photography into this body of work. I take pleasure in my in-studio photos of people with an editorial flair, and I aim to integrate these elements as well.

Through my use of colour-rich and high-contrast visuals, I draw inspiration from art history, such as techniques that mimic tenebrism and chiaroscuro. By applying the principles of art, I encourage others to contemplate their diverse interests and consider how, through their technical skills, they can excel in multiple genres of their own art. These techniques, rooted in a rich artistic tradition, connect us to the past and inspire us to create without limitations in the present.
